Bostadsrätterna is Sweden’s largest housing association, representing over 10,000 condominium associations nationwide. Founded in 1921, the organization offers its members legal, consultative, educational, and technical support.
As part of the cooperation, each condominium can get its own website as a modern and convenient tool for communication with residents.

The Challenge
In many Swedish condominiums, there are shared facilities like guest apartments, saunas, gyms, or laundry rooms. Residents can book these spaces, but manual coordination of booking is often inconvenient.
As a part of service, Bostadsratterna proposes to its members Own websites. So the organization came up with the idea of implementing online booking directly on these websites.
In collaboration with the Swedish IT company NORXYS, we developed a unified online booking system that now operates across more than 2,200 websites on a Drupal multi-tenant platform.
Designing a booking system for a multi-tenant platform with 2,200 microsites meant overcoming several challenges:

- Performance: Keeping the new service lightweight and fast across thousands of sites.
- Flexibility: Supporting diverse facility types and custom booking rules per condominium.
- Advanced booking logic: Managing daily/hourly reservations, slot limits, and edge cases.
- User experience: Ensuring simple booking, reminders, and cancellations for residents and admins.
The Solution and Achievements
To address the challenges, we developed a scalable booking engine designed specifically for a multi-tenant ecosystem with thousands of microsites. The system balances simplicity for residents with powerful configuration tools for administrators, while ensuring security and performance at scale.
Booking workflow overview: administrators configure bookings, residents reserve available slots, and the system automatically handles confirmations, reminders, and cancellations.

- Lightweight and scalable. Optimized to run seamlessly across more than 2,200 websites without slowing down the platform.

The new booking feature makes Bostadsrätterna’s microsites more interactive and engaging, turning them into everyday tools rather than static information pages. This not only increases resident satisfaction but also strengthens Bostadsrätterna’s ability to attract new member associations.
At this stage, the customer is promoting the new feature across the network of websites. To ensure transparency and measurable impact, we introduced an analytics system that provides clear insights into feature usage dynamics.
In parallel, the feature is continuously refined based on real user feedback. This reflects our product-driven approach, where development is only one part of an ongoing process that includes rollout support, measurement, and iterative improvement.
